monticule series, 2019

textile installation series (recycled cotton, wool roving)

Taking inspiration from the word ‘monticule’ and its allusion to breaking through the earth as a small mound or hill, these two wearable sculptures incorporate recycled t-shirt yarn and found cotton thread. Creating these textiles pieces is a way to think about how bodies are socially constructed and how bodily boundaries can be challenged by inhabiting and interacting with the work.
